Richard Nugee: House of Commons Defence Committee Expert Evidence

Lt General (ret.) Richard Nugee presented expert evidence to the UK Parliament’s House of Commons Defence Committee.

Delivering responses to a series of strategic and technical questions over nearly two hours, Gen Nugee provided parliamentarians with information on UK defence and climate change.

Questions included: is the UK embracing the scale of potential change? Will defence infrastructure be able to withstand the challenges ahead? What can the UK MOD do to support biodiversity across training areas?

In addition to defence emissions and the prospect of net zero without compromising operational effectiveness, discussions also centred on High North trade routes, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), and life cycle costs.
