Climate Conversations: Climate Change and European Defence with General (Ret.) Tom Middendorp

The CCI Project is delighted to present General (Ret.) Tom Middendorp, former Netherlands Chief of Defence, and current Chair of the International Military Council on Climate and Security (IMCCS), discussing the implications of climate change for international security.

General Middendorp highlights the strategic importance of a military focus on climate change insecurity. He references his practical experience across a range of theatres, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Mali. General Middendorp also emphasises the need to depoliticise both climate change and security so as to facilitate a coordinated and collaborative response.
