Tim Clack and Andrew Sharpe: House of Commons Defence Committee Expert Evidence

CCIP’s Dr Tim Clack and Maj General (ret.) Andrew Sharpe presented expert evidence to the UK Parliament’s House of Commons Defence Committee.

Delivering responses to a series of questions, Dr Clack and Gen Sharpe provided parliamentarians with information on UK defence and climate change.

Questions included: Can we talk about some of the UK-specific challenges - that is, what the UK has to do, particularly with a focus on the defence and security world? And, what would be the implications for the UK were we not to take action?

Dr Clack and Gen Sharpe highlighted how climate change is a truly international challenge, and that the atmosphere is a global commons, with national borders irrelevant in terms of risks and response - what happens in one area will then have impacts in other areas as there is a complex web of interconnection and interation.
